Studio On Fire
2016 Calendar
Each year a local Minneapolis letterpress shop, Studio On Fire, puts out a desktop calendar as a promotional piece. 2016's calendar theme was "home", which is left open for interpretation.
The process of letterpressing is very unique, allowing for colors to be overlaid to create secondary and tertiary colors. It also gives a beautiful tactility to designs with debossing, embossing and more being possible. This technique makes it very fun to build up illustrations and see how they play out through color blocking and pattern.
August and February were the two months F&F got a swing at. Going off the idea of the Great Outdoors and the Great Indoors for the two peek summer and winter months was the concept these illustration depicted. Both focus on the activity of slowing down and embracing the beautify each season of the year has to offer.
